Speed Wars: New World-Class Muscle Type Sports Cars = Affordable Supercars

We cover only a select few sports cars each year; these are the ones that put the other car manufacturers on notice. The basic Speed Wars car reviews vehicle criteria include; reasonable value and availability, power output, speed and quickness, handling, huge network of aftermarket high-performance parts and accessories, sports car comfort, and luxury falls last. 

About the 2013's: The COPO Camaro doesn't have a model year, is off-road only, and very limited at 69 units, but it's included because you can build these, and some of the fastest vehicles around, from off the shelf parts available from General Motors (Chevrolet Performance). The GT-R and Viper are on the high-end of the price range, especially the GT-R Black Edition and Viper GTS model.  The Nissan GT-R, nicknamed Godzilla, is competitive against any supercar and is known to hold its value better than most. The Chrysler 2013 SRT Viper starts a new generation of fire-breathing V10 powered muscle-cars. Besides being among the most powerful, best handling and quickest cars on earth, these and all the rest have collectors value. The Ford Shelby GT500 has an ungodly power output and is the last year for solid rear axle muscle-cars. The 2013 Ford Shelby GT500 is the last live axle holdout, and the new generation Mustangs are due out in 2014 with the new IRS (independent rear suspensions). Also, the Shelby name became a memorial as designer Carroll Shelby died during the 2013 Ford Shelby GT500 promotional new car release. The 2006 to 2013 Chevrolet C6 Z06 and 2009-2013 ZR1 Corvette need little introduction as they broke all the rules by introducing a choice of super-muscle-cars with one of the best values in the marketplace. The 2013 427 Corvette Convertible celebrates the last year for the LS7 (427 cubic inch) engine in a Corvette, is the last production year for the C6 Corvette (2014 will see the new C7 generation Corvette), and is the fastest Corvette convertible ever. The 2013 ZL1 Camaro Convertible is the most powerful factory Chevrolet convertible ever built and marks the start of a new high-tech hyper-performance age in the modern muscle-car wars.

About the 2014's: The General Motors 2014+ C7 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray marks the beginning of a totally new generation of Corvette's. The base or standard Corvette Stingray engine is first of the Gen 5 small block engines and they're named the LT1. This 6.2L 376 cu in LT1 completely redesigned V-8 engine helps make the standard or base C7 model Corvette Stingray the quickest, most powerful and fuel-efficient Vette ever made! The soon to come ultra-high-performance models built up from the Stingray will astound the supercar world. We also look at a few 2014 street-legal race-track focused cars like the Camaro Z/28 and Viper TA.

The Speed Wars cars are reasonably priced for sports cars in the ultra high-performance automotive world. It's understood that some of the ultra expensive vehicles not listed here are costly simply because the research and development costs are very high, and these catch our eye, like the retired Pagani Zonda R, because many of these vehicles pass on their ultra performance tricks to the next generation of high-performance sports cars for the masses. Others are expensive, often to just targeting the snobby, and while certain performance characteristics might be notable and comparable to other high-performance vehicles, the Speed Wars generally doesn't cover ultra exotic and rare woods, exclusive mastodon leather seats that took 1000 hours each to hand stitch by the single craftsman with over 75 years experience, diamond studded instrument displays, color keyed matching watches, cuff-links, luggage or high-speed picnic baskets.

We're here to expose the most awesome "affordable" high-performance cars in the world (they are still very expensive compared to your average new car price though).
